Recipes for delicious puff pastry pies in a slow cooker

In our age, when you can buy anything you want in a store, it’s a sin not to take advantage of the benefits of civilization and not buy ready-made puff pastry - it doesn’t matter whether it’s yeast or yeast-free, rather than fiddling around in the kitchen for a couple of hours, alternately kneading and freezing the dough. Today we will prepare a puff pastry pie in a slow cooker.

Moreover, recipes do not suffer at all from using ready-made puff pastry. And with the help of a multicooker, the same puffs with cheese, or puff pastries with cherries in a multicooker are simply delicious! This type of baking is easy to prepare.

Today I will show you quick baking recipes, and in addition to the two already announced items, we will also prepare a puff pastry pie in a slow cooker with apples. Puff pastry in a slow cooker will turn out no worse than in the oven.

Each recipe will be accompanied by a photo of the finished dish that you can use as a guide.

Let's start cooking

Step 1

Since our recipes are simple today, we won’t bother with preparing the dough. Defrost a layer of purchased puff pastry without yeast at room temperature.

Step 2

Sprinkle the table with flour, roll out the product using a rolling pin, and cut it into thin slices 5 centimeters wide and 10 centimeters long.

Step 3

You should not use frozen cherries for the filling, because they contain too much liquid, which will definitely leak out when cooking puff pastries in a slow cooker. Therefore, we take fresh cherries (the pits must first be removed from them), or canned ones (be sure to drain the juice from them before starting cooking).

In a deep bowl, mix the cherries with sugar and add starch, which will add viscosity to our filling and prevent it from leaking during cooking.

Step 4

Place the filling for the pies on the workpiece and carefully pinch the edges of the plates. You can use a fork for this purpose.

On a note: If you slightly moisten the edges of the product with water when joining, the baked goods will have a beautiful appearance without the filling leaking out.

Step 5

Place the pies on the bottom of the multicooker bowl without oil, activate the “Baking” mode, and bake the products on both sides for 60 minutes. Half an hour on one side, half an hour on the other.

Step 6

The finished dish can be decorated with powdered sugar.

Baking with apples

Ingredients

  • Apples – 6 pieces
  • Puff pastry – 500 grams
  • Granulated sugar – 1 cup
  • Water – 50 milliliters
  • Cinnamon – 1 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil
  • Butter – 50 grams

Cooking process

Step 1

Baking with apples always has an exquisite aroma, so we will combine these fruits and puff pastry in a slow cooker

First you need to prepare the fruits for the apple pie. Wash the fruits, peel them if desired, and be sure to remove the core and stems. Some recipes advise you to separately cook sugar syrup for apples, but we will kill two birds with one stone. We cut the apples into small squares, about 1-1.5 centimeters in size.

Place them in a deep frying pan and turn on the stove. When the apples are hot, add oil, water, cinnamon and sugar alternately, mix thoroughly, and cover with a lid. Simmer the resulting syrup with apples in water for 10 minutes until they become soft and fragrant with cinnamon.

Step 2

Roll out the defrosted dough on the table, using a pan lid, squeeze out 2 circles that fit the size of the multicooker bowl.

Place the first layer of apples in the multicooker, straight from the frying pan and the juice that they have released. Place a layer of dough on top and repeat the procedure - a layer of apples, a layer of dough. Our apple pie is ready to cook. Set the “Baking” mode on the kitchen assistant display, cooking time – 50 minutes. Carefully remove the finished product using a steaming container and serve it to the table.

Appetizing apple pie with cinnamon flavor is delicious both cold and hot.

Puff pastries with cheese and ham

Today we are looking at recipes not only for sweet pastries, but also recipes for lovers of something substantial. Believe me, puff pastries with cheese and ham have never left anyone indifferent!

To prepare this dish you will need

  • Puff pastry without yeast – 200 grams
  • Ham – 150 grams
  • Cheese – 100 grams

This baking will not require a lot of effort or financial expenditure from you, which can be generally seen from the short list of ingredients.

Let's start cooking:

Step 1

Defrost the dough at room temperature, then roll it out and cut it into slices 4-5 centimeters wide and about 15 centimeters long.

Step 2

Place thinly sliced pieces of cheese and ham on top of the pieces and close them, forming an envelope. Additionally, we make short, shallow cuts on top with a knife - this way the finished baked goods will be more fluffy.

Step 3

We activate the “Baking” mode on the multicooker display. Place the yummy in a bowl and bake for 15 minutes, then carefully turn over with a spatula and bake for another 10 minutes. Ready!

Until today, I was sure that a slow cooker and puff pastry were incompatible, but it turns out I was wrong. The miracle pot coped with this product too. Perhaps the baked goods are not as airy and crispy as in the oven, but I really liked them, and in the end I broke all the laws and finished two pieces late in the evening.

Products:

  • 250 grams puff pastry dough
  • 250-300 grams of pitted cherries
  • 3 tbsp. spoons of sugar
  • 4-5 teaspoons starch
  • Powdered sugar

Preparation:

Defrost the dough. Then roll it out thinly.

Squeeze out excess liquid from cherries. I had closed, pitted and sugar-free cherries in their own juice.

Then add sugar and starch to the cherries.

Mix everything well. The filling is ready.

Distribute the cherries along the wide edge of the rolled out dough.

Carefully roll up the roll and pinch the edges so that the filling does not leak out.

Place the roll in the multicooker bowl in the shape of a snail.

Turn on the heat for 10-15 minutes to allow the dough to rise a little. After this, we run the “small quantity” program for 40 minutes. After finishing it, my roll looked like this.

I wasn’t at all impressed by the pallor of the roll, so I carefully turned it over and ran the “small quantity” mode again for 40 minutes.

Servings: 4
Cooking time: 1 hour 35 minutes.

Recipe Description

The multicooker puff pastry pie that you see on this page is made from ready-made store-bought yeast puff pastry. If you want to make the dough yourself, I advise you to look at an excellent recipe for puff pastry dough, which was used when baking pumpkin pie. It is also great for a pie with mushrooms and potatoes in a slow cooker.

As for mushrooms, this recipe is a kind of experiment for me. I'm making a pie with shiitake mushrooms - I bought this miracle product of Japanese cuisine for the first time, tempted by its usefulness. Eastern medicine claims that shiitake in Japan and China is used as a medicine for diseases of the lungs, liver, blood, and also to increase vitality. Shiitake lowers cholesterol and treats impotence. They have been used in Japanese and Chinese cuisine for more than 2 thousand years. In general, it is simply impossible not to try this miracle product. It doesn’t matter that he was raised not in Japan, but somewhere nearby. Shiitake is grown in many countries, and more recently in Russia too.

When describing this mushroom, it is advised to use only the caps for food, since its stem is more rigid. But this may be the case with the shiitake's forest cousins, and farmed ones are quite mild, so I use them whole.

In general, layered pie with mushrooms in a slow cooker is a satisfying vegetarian dish that will come in handy if for some reason you do not want to eat meat. However, it is not lean in the full sense of the word, since butter, eggs, and milk are used to prepare the dough. But if you replace these products with water with vegetable oil, and exclude eggs from the recipe, then a layer pie with mushrooms in a slow cooker may well decorate the Lenten menu.

In any case, it is satisfying, prepares quickly and is quite simple. As for the taste, I’m sure everyone will like it, it will fly away in an instant - and they will ask for more!

To make a puff pastry pie you need:

  • Store-bought puff pastry – 2 sheets.
  • Any mushrooms (I used shiitake) – 300 gr.
  • Potatoes – 2 pcs.
  • Hard cheese – 50 gr.
  • Boiled eggs – 3 pcs.
  • Onion – 1 piece.
  • Greens - a large bunch.
  • Vegetable oil for frying.

Cooking step by step:

Peel the potatoes and onions, wash the shiitake, and dry with a napkin.

Cut all vegetables into small cubes. Heat a frying pan with 2-3 tablespoons of vegetable oil and fry the vegetables until tender - first fry the potatoes and onions for 10 minutes, then add the mushrooms, cook until all the moisture has evaporated. Salt the filling, mix, remove from the stove, and leave to cool.

Boil the eggs hard – about 10 minutes. Remove the shell and chop finely.
Grate hard cheese on a coarse grater. Wash the greens, finely chop them with a knife, and then thoroughly mix all the ingredients for the filling: fried vegetables, boiled eggs, hard cheese and a lot of greens. (3 votes, average: 3.3 out of 5)
